Inspirational series: Attitude

Have you ever really stopped to deeply evaluate your attitude? Truth be told, this is going to be a tough subject to talk about. Not to mention a pretty controversial one in these days and times. However, it is true that some people just have a lousy attitude.
As christians we need to have an attitude check sometimes. This goes for everyone else as well. There are three areas in our lives where we need to have an attitude change.

1. You need to change your attitude about yourself.

There are people out there who are selfish and only think about themselves. This makes them full of pride and makes them think that they don’t need anyone else but them. They think they can get through life like that but in reality, they can’t.

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:3‬

There’s people who look down on themselves and always find something about them to complain about. They don’t have many friends because they are too scared of what they might think. They don’t have any self confidence and that leads to problems later in life. Both of these attitudes can be changed by allowing other people in their life to help them out when they need it. This brings me to my next point.

2. You need to change your attitude about other people.

Do you honestly think that you are so good that you don’t need any help from anyone else? Most of us don’t like to admit when we need help. That is what others are here for, to help in times of need. People need to stop these little cliques they have going everywhere. They have these small little circle of friends and they don’t talk to anyone else outside of that circle besides that common “hi” passing by. You never know what someone may be going through. I believe we should try and get to know as many people as we can. There’s always that one person that feels left out and lonely because all they ever get is that passing hi. They look down on themselves because no one bothers to really get to know them. Some may try to have a pity conversation with them but never follow up. Why do people do this to others? We need to have an attitude change. Get to know more people. I speak from experience because I feel like this all the time and I don’t think I should have to feel this way. It is not right to treat others that way.

“Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”

Philippians 2:4

In order to do these first two things we can not forget about the next, last, and most important point of all.

3. We have to change our attitude ABOUT Christ to have the attitude OF Christ.

We are not able to have these attitude changes by ourselves. We have to have help. It is in our flawed human nature to have these worldly attitudes. We can’t help it. However this is not something that other humankind can help with. We are all flawed. Instead, we need to come to know Christ. It is only through him that we have the strength to change our attitude to a Christ like attitude. Jesus had the perfect attitude. He had the attitude of unconditional love. Like I mentioned in the last blog, he loved us so much that he gave his one and only son so that we may not perish. What if we had attitudes like that toward other people? How much of a difference could we make in others lives if we showed others as much love as Christ showed us? I know it would make a huge impact in my life.

So let’s learn to have a Christ like attitude so we can change our attitude about ourselves and about others, so we can help change the world!

That’s all for now. Hope you enjoyed!
